Enticing Tangier, Morocco, Joins the whl travel Network

Enticing Tangier, Morocco, Joins the whl travel Network

Article by The Travel Word

A window to the world of Europe but still very much a part of Africa, the renowned port city of Tangier, Morocco, has a hard-won reputation for guarding its unique cultural individuality, a quality that draws travellers to it. With its diverse markets (souks), buzzing nightlife and characteristic whitewashed buildings all back-dropped by blue Mediterranean waters, Tangier is a place in which tourists must keep their wits about them, but always find its intense sights and sounds richly rewarding once they can spot hustlers, enjoy a good haggle and just go with the flow.

This proudly Moroccan metropolis has ancient roots. Tangier can trace its origins back to colonists from the mighty Carthaginian Empire who saw the advantages of the promontory at the northern tip of Morocco that makes up the African side of the Strait of Gibraltar. Such a prime location at the gateway to the Atlantic has contributed hugely to Tangier’s historical significance, as have the cultural influences of its centuries of residents, travellers and occupiers.

A well-established holiday destination for Europeans, modern Tangier is amply outfitted with every type of accommodation, from luxury villas overlooking the sea to quaint backpacker joints with all the modern conveniences. One popular local recommendation is the Dar Sultan, a 300-year-old guesthouse where one can relax before a plate of delicious traditional Moroccan pancakes on a picturesque terrace. Many travellers come to Tangier to pull out all the stops, for which five-star Le Mirage is the perfect choice – a series of pristine bungalows perched on rocky cliffs overlooking an aquamarine sea.

As to be expected from such a multi-faceted destination, tours in and around Tangier are numerous and varied, bringing out the very best of Morocco. The journey from Tangier to the city of Fes as part of a four-day tour is a popular option, as is spending a full 12 days exploring much more of the country. Alternatively, a walking tour of Tangier or a four-day excursion in Tangier and the small towns in the surrounding area is the ideal way to experience local life.

Whatever the choice, visitors are in safe hands with the whl.travel local connection in Tangier, Agence de Loisirs Marocains, who have been on the Moroccan tourism scene since 1988.

Founder and owner Taoufik Madih is “so proud to join the whl.travel family. Since our first contact with whl.travel, members have been sincere, helpful and knowledgeable. Cheap Asian Travel Tips

Cheap Asian Travel Tips

Article by The Bum Traveler

Traveling in Asia can be ridiculously cheap and fun if you know what you’re doing. Cheap Asian travel is done by being intelligent with your cash and being well informed of what is going on. Last year when I was in Thailand the ratio of the dollar to the thai baht currency was about 40 baht to 1 dollar, now it is about 30 to 1! Paying attention to the local politics and what is going on in the world is just one of many ways that you can make Asian travel cheap.

One of the most basic things for cheap asian travel is to live like the locals. This doesn’t mean that you are going to be out the rice fields work from dawn to dusk like some of the locals, but you will have a similar lifestyle that will also add a lot of culture to your trip. Instead of eating at that nice Westerner restaurant go down and eat from one of the street stalls. You’ll have a blast eating with the locals and attempting to communicate with them and you’ll also get a chance to really sample some of the local flavor that is quite good. Don’t worry about getting sick, the locals wouldn’t be eating there if they were getting sick, so you shouldn’t either.

One of the biggest keys to cheap asian travel is how you decide to go about seeing asia. Clearly if you want to fly it’s going to cost you quite a bit more then the local bus. Now there are some tourist busses that are great and get you to where you need to go for cheap, but be warned, there is a reason for why they are cheap. One of the reasons is that they stop at specific locations for meals that are out in the middle of nowhere so they can jack the prices up. So if you do take these busses take a sack meal or bit the bullet and pay the jacked up prices. The best option in my opinion for cheap asian travel is to take the local bus. You’ll experience that countries culture up close and directly and you’ll be doing it for the same price as the locals themselves.

There are plenty of great tips about cheap asian travel on my blog at http://bumtravel.wordpress.com but the most basic thing to remember is “Live like the locals and follow what they do.” They live there, they know the prices and are going to do what is going to save them the most money, so follow their lead and watch for where they eat, how they travel and where they shop.

Travel Mania

“An effort to promote tourism among the youth”

For Kuoni Academy what could be the best way to begin the New Year, then to get associated with a cause of promoting & creating awareness about Tourism!

A two months long event – “Travel Mania” is being organized by Kuoni Academy Mumbai centres in 40 colleges, reaching 40,000 students, to bring Travel & Tourism as a main stream career option for the youth today.

With plethora of new career avenues available and the desire of getting away from the conventional career of a doctor or an engineer, youth today is more confident to look out for distinct vocations such as photographer, animation, shoe designer, tour manager etc. But due to lack of proper guidance about the industry, it’s not among the few top career options in the minds of youngsters when it comes to choosing their livelihood.

Travel & Tourism is one sector where the opportunities to do something new and different are higher due to its dynamic nature, however the acceptance of it as a main stream career is still at an evolving stage. Travel Mania aims at breaking this monotony and speed up the growth!

To promote this noble cause Kuoni Academy has received support from various National & International Tourism Promotion Boards like Thailand, Malaysia, Switzerland, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh etc. Destination specific literature, brochures, maps, souvenirs, display material and most importantly exciting holiday trips are being sponsored by these tourism boards to reach out the youth.

Kuoni Academy Tourism promotion help desk is being set inside the colleges where KA own students talks to the college students about interesting facts & fiction about the destinations, know how of itinerary planning, tour packages etc. To make the event more interesting, on the spot tourism quiz and games are conducted, giving the college students the opportunity of winning souvenirs from these destinations.

Travel Mania has already been conducted at Elphinstone College, Lala Lajpat Rai College, Sydenham College, Parla College, Western College, ICL College, Nanavati Womens College, S. N College, Abhinav College, St. Andrews, R. J. College, Rizvi College of Commerce and the response received from the students is excellent.
